Character β€”
Character Name: Harry Osborn
Character Canon: The Amazing Spider Man (2)
Character Age: 20
Canon Point: just before taking the experimental serum which would turn him into the Green Goblin
Link to History: wiki link
Inventory: The clothes on his back (designer t-shirt and jeans, black leather jacket, dark sunglasses) and a loaded handgun.
Powers β€”

Skills: Harry has a genius level intellect, and is at the very least pretty good at finding his way into computer files that he's not supposed to be looking at (though I would hesitate to call him a hacker), and bluffing and/or bribing his way into places he's not supposed to be.

Superpowers: Contact Healing (New Power) Harry can heal someone's illness or injury through skin-to-skin contact.

Limitations: Any healing Harry performs will worsen his own disease. The greater the injury or illness he heals, the more his disease worsens. If he brings someone back from the dead, the disease will completely take over his mind and body.

This power will also work in reverse: if he injures someone, his condition will improve. The greater the injury, the greater the improvement. Any improvement is only temporary, however, meaning that he will have to continue to hurt people in order to maintain his "cure."

Personality β€”
  • What were your character's most formative experiences?:

  • In elementary school, Harry's best friend was Peter Parker. The pair were exceptionally close; Harry provided a lot of support and comfort for Peter after his parents left/died. They were abruptly separated, however, when Harry was 11 and his dad sent him away to boarding school. Harry was a bit of an aloof child, and never really made any friends that came close to the friendship he shared with Peter. From that point on, he tended to keep people at arms' length.

On Harry's 16th birthday, his father sent him a bottle of whiskey, though it was clear the gift was sent by one of his father's employees, rather than Norman Osborn himself. This cemented in Harry a deep hatred for his father, one that was only worsened by the fact that Harry inherited the same incurable disease that would go on to kill Norman, Retroviral Hypodysplasia.

In searching through Oscorp's files for a way to cure his disease, Harry developed the notion that if he injected himself with Spider-Man's blood, he could give himself the hero's healing ability, thereby saving his life. He begged and pleaded Peter to set up a meeting between him and Spider-Man, only for the hero to deny him his blood, no matter what Harry could offer him. Even though Spider-Man said he was doing it out of concern for Harry's safety, Harry didn't care. This was one of the final straws in Harry's fall into desperation and hopelessness, and would lead him to develop a personal vendetta against Spider-Man. He then took matters into his own hands and held Donald Menken at gunpoint, forcing him to inject Harry with the genetically-modified spider venom. This last salvo wouldn't end up giving Harry the cure he sought after, instead mutating him into a deformed, deranged version of himself.

  • What values, morals, and/or philosophies does your character live by, and how are those beliefs demonstrated? What happens when they have to compromise what they believe in?

  • Harry values personal relationships, and he values honesty. When he was made CEO of Oscorp following his father's passing, he insulted and alienated the much older board members, knowing there was nothing he could do to win their favor, and promoted Felicia Hardy to be his own personal assistant. He trusted Felicia to have his back, and to tell him things that the rest of the board were keeping from him. He also believes in reciprocity. After Spider-Man denied him his blood, thereby removing Harry's hope of a cure, he vowed that he would in turn take away Spider-Man's hope by kidnapping his girlfriend and killing her.

  • What is your character afraid of? How does avoiding or preventing these fears influence their actions and decisions?

  • Harry is terrified of the disease he inherited from his father. Not only is he afraid to die, but he is afraid he will become ugly and deformed, with scaly skin and long, claw-like fingernails. He will do anything to avoid that fate, going from bartering to begging, to taking his (presumed) salvation by force.

  • What goals does your character have right now? What do they want, and how do they go about getting it?

  • Harry's primary goal right now is to cure himself of the Retroviral Hypodysplasia, through whatever means necessary. Once he gets that chanceβ€” or, more likely, once he is denied that chanceβ€” he doesn't know what to do. He hasn't exactly planned that far ahead. He does know that his one secondary goal is enacting his revenge against Spider-Man.

    Gameplay β€”
Areas of Interest / Brainstorming: I'm interested in Harry potentially making decisions which will lead him down the same villain path he will ultimately take in canon. Either that or being convinced (begrudgingly) to walk a higher path. There are a number of characters from his universe or universes relative to his that will be interesting CR to possibly influence him one way or the other.
