[ Peter does recognise the last name Osborn, but only because of other world shenanigans. He's not really sure what Harry has to do with that, if anything. ]
It was super fucked up, right? It was like…okay, so I got this weird power from the Confluence and I can kind of communicate with machines?
[ "Kind of" is an understatement. ]
But when I tried to figure out what went weird, I got…trapped, I guess. So I couldn't stop the simulation at all. I couldn't remember who I was, really. I really, really don't want anything like that to happen again. But I still felt bad, 'cause…I mean, dying in a simulation sucks.
[ He knows from experience now himself. ]
Whoever did that to all of us was pretty messed up.
[ A beat. ]
Huh? Yeah, of course I know. I think there's like four of us now or something? It's crazy.
[ Peter's rambling about the expo disaster is suddenly completely uninteresting to Harry, aside from the minor amusement that he always gets when Peter (any Peter, apparently) goes off on a tangent. ]
But you, uh. Just checking... You don't know any Harry Osborn in your universe?
[ Whoops, he was definitely just going on and on, huh? He stops at Harry's question and is quiet for a minute. ]
I…no. I don't know any Osborn at all in my universe. There was, uh, a thing where we actually had some weird multiverse thing happen and…
[ Should he even go this far and say it? He has no idea if Harry knows that Peter is Spider-Man and he doesn't want to give it away, but he feels like leaving off there now would just leave more questions. ]
Long story short, I met a Norman Osborn.
[ It definitely sounds like there's more there, but he doesn't say it. It's still hard. ]
[ Harry barely listens to most of what Peter is saying. He's too self-concerned, too wrapped up in thinking about how there's a universe out there where he and Peter aren't best friends.
Is Peter better off, there?
But then the name 'Norman' cuts through the haze, and Harry barks a laugh laced with acid. ]
Let me guess. You're from one of those universes where my dad was some kind of supervillain or some shit.
What? Oh. One of? There's more than one like that? Jeez, that's…so much.
[ Whoops, just saying words. ]
No, I'm…no. Actually, the Norman Osborn I met wasn't from my world. It's hard to explain, I don't really understand all of it.
[ He feels bad lying, but until he has any idea that Harry knows his secret identity, he has to keep it as separate as he can. ]
There was a pretty strange incident that happened where people from other universes ended up in mine. Norman was one of them. Otto Octavius was another. Do you know him? He's here too now, which is pretty wild.
I don't know the whole story in Norman's own universe. He wasn't just a supervillain. But he did really bad things in our universe.
